Quick Overview : Britain during Shakespeare's Days

During Shakespeare´s days, Britain was ruled by Queen Elizabeth I who powered the economy by enforcing the navy and commercial power. 
Church of England established 
Elizabethan Age represented by London (art, might and trade)
400% increase of Population in London during 1500´s

Economy Boom, rise of Middle Class

Rulers:
Edward VI 1547-1553, Lady Jane Grey 1553, Mary I 1553-1558, Elizabeth I 1558-1603, James I 1603-1625, Charles I 1625-1649.

How did they live?

They lived in marketplaces and venues with great performances and goods to sell. They sold things like silk and chicken and good performances for upper class and royalty.

What were people concerned about?

Their health, as disease was going around. The time was also known as the ‘Religious Wars’ as many of the rulers were changing the religion of England when they were in reign. They were also focused of the colonisation of the new world.

Migration

In early 1500's migration increaes. Economy was rising and England was focusing on conquering other lands and creating a better life quality.

Religion

Under the order of Queen Elizabeth the Church of England was established.
King James created a new version of the Bible.

Several plagues were the most dreaded disease of Shakespeare's time. A series of plagues that took place during 1563-1603. The outbreaks in 1563 and 1603 were the most ferocious, each strike took out over one quarter of London's population.
